Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent industry-funded body that provides the Queensland building and construction sector with the information and skills required to ensure for a strong and sustainable future.
CSQ had their departments spread throughout several levels and were seeking to integrate their team prior to their lease ending in 2017. As such, CSQ opted to relocate their organisation into the prestigious Coronation Drive Office Park in Milton and engaged design and construct experts, Priority, to make their vision a reality.
Upon making this significant decision, CSQ wanted to create a working environment that was unique and modern, whilst inspiring innovation and connection through a dialogue of comfortable spaces. Corporate branding and an inviting atmosphere for staff and visitors were also paramount to the final design of their fitout.
On arrival to the CSQ office, visitors are welcomed into a spacious and savvy reception area that features full-length glazing, crisp neutral tones, pewter waiting chairs and a chrome geometric pendant light. These design elements are offset by the natural textures found in the timber accents and stone flooring, to create a savvy and welcoming environment.
Adjacent to the reception area the quirkiness ensues, with the boardroom and each meeting room named after a legendary music icon. The ‘Abbey Road’ boardroom features pebble-look carpet, tasteful timber paneling, earth tones, as well as a geometric operable wall that opens into the kitchen area. The multifunctioning kitchen, come entertaining space, provides sufficient room and facilities for staff lunches, internal training or social club events. The timber laminate flooring, white furniture, as well as the splashes of bright colour provides a stylish and relaxed coastal feel.
With various departments working within the one office it was necessary to create work areas that were conducive to different needs. Owing to this, two main workspaces were created with meeting rooms and private offices separating them in order to increase staff productivity through reduced noise and interruptions. Both areas have incorporated CSQ’s lively branding, with yellow feature walls displaying corporate slogans and imagery. Natural light is also abundant in these spaces and boast stunning panoramic views of the Brisbane River and lush surrounding landscapes.
Through the use of simple white, elegant natural features and dusted crystal glazing, the CSQ design asserts a professional sophistication. Whilst the corporate yellow accents, bursts of subtle colour and metallic geometric elements provide a playful juxtaposition that makes for a warm and engaging space.
